Mark earned his Bachelor’s Degree in accounting at the University of Utah and began his career as an auditor at Ernst and Young, one of the world’s largest accounting and business consulting firms.While working for E&Y he attended the University of Utah and earned his Masters of Business Administration. After four years with E&Y, he worked at Ascensus/BISYS Insurance Services, the nation’s largest insurance brokerage. During his five years with the company, he became a licensed life, health and disability insurance agent. His roles with the company were Controller and then as Director of Finance. He also spent two years on the Mergers and Acquisition team. He decided to leave BISYS and start his own practice and joined his father at Fankhauser and Associates, specializing in tax preparation and consulting for small businesses and individuals. At Fankhauser and Associates he learned the value of establishing trust through personal relationships.
Mark thrives on challenges: He followed the Tour de France for ten days on his bicycle. If you ask him about his road biking trip from the beach to the top of Haleakala in Hawaii, or his climb of the Grand Teton, you’ll understand why Mark undertakes difficult tasks with optimism and ultimate success. Mark is a believer in the restorative value of recreation and nature. He enjoys road and mountain biking, skiing as well as traveling with his wife and two children. He likes to make time for what matters.
